spring your inner metallics

Metallics have a way of gracing our presence from time to time and though it may not appear as the most approachable trend for this Spring, I am here to say otherwise. In fact with the right approach, metallics are just the thing we need to add an edgy pop into the softness and freshness that the Spring season brings. To hopefully give you some insight, I put this theory into practice by wearing a bold orange metallic leather top with crisp white denim. Oh and let's not fail to mention the orange lip to top off the already topped off. Take a look and get inspired! Perhaps you may find yourself saying, "Holy Shit I Love You Metallics".

If you find yourself mostly wearing neutrals and steering away from colors (and pastels do not count), no worries because prints are to the rescue and are an easy way to add color! Especially for spring/summer 2014, you can't go wrong with a floral print when you want to liven up your look. If you're looking to add some edge, throw on a leather vest or some tough leather sandals; balance is key!

head to toe whites - the no color movement

Aside from all of the very important hoopla surrounding the start of New York Fashion Week along with the subsequent fashion weeks to follow, we decided to rewind and focus on the trends to wear and shop for now. WHAT! Yes, we said it. For once, we are focusing on the present day in fashion. Just keep it between you and us. 

Anyways, today The Byzantine visited the Odeon Leicester Square in London to get a glimpse of Naomi Watts at the world premiere of Diana. To some surprise, she was sporting the oh-so fall/winter whites trend. effortless looks

Casual does the soul good. Getting dressed can sometimes turn itself into a whole stressful fiasco affecting your mood, which in turn affects your look. In our defense, a lot of thought goes into that outfit of the day. For example, what's the weather like? What's on trend at the moment? What will everyone else be wearing? Does this flatter me? And on it goes. So when all of these questions are plaguing your mind, just grab for what you feel comfortable and good in because as the saying goes, "When you feel good, you look good", or maybe it's vice versa, but not in this case. Here we take an acid wash top, oversized sunglasses, and sandals casually to Toledo, Spain.

The Byzantine heads to the Retiro Park in Madrid and we ask, what better way to spend a day in the park than walking in trendy lucite heels, rowing a boat, and reading the latest issue of Vogue? The answer, no better way. Lucite heels go a long way and that long way could easily steer off into the pole dancing arena (if you know what I mean). When trying this trend, keep it conservative and casual on top.

peace, love, and jumpsuits

We take the jumpsuit to Segovia, a city in Spain built by the Romans and definitely made for roamin', get it? Anyways, I don't know about you, but I love a good jumpsuit. It's the definition of comfort, easy, and no fuss. However, a jumpsuit can never do justice on its own. This "glorified adult onesie" is always in need of some accessorizing. I added my "summer go to" white linen vest, strappy sandal heels, and topped it off with some valentino.

back to basics in spain

The Byzantine takes Spain! Only an hour away from Madrid lies The Royal Palace of La Granja de san Ildefonso. Here we dare to bare the basics of a t-shirt and jeans. After all, who needs fancy when you have a palace? 

fair we go

Sadly it's been a long time since I have ventured to a fair and let's be honest, this doesn't count either since it wasn't open yet. In my opinion, the best time to visit a fair is when it's closed. No lines, no weird smells, and no crazy children jacked up on sugar. Anyways, I dressed the part. Some metallic, white linen, leather shorts, and let's not forget the converse. Now, how fair is that?

Bold and playful, one of my favorite combinations. In general, you can add leather to toughen up any look as seen here. Just make sure one of your pieces is feminine, say a pink top with diamonds on it?

double denim

I always enjoy pairing together the unexpected. Pink lips and an orange top. A color-block denim shirt with a pretty floral crochet top. Not only is some balance to your daily life good, but maybe even to your outfit of the day. You know what they say, "opposites attract", or in this case scratch that because we prove if done right then denim and denim can attract as well.
